Powell Street Cable Car Turnaround — San Francisco, 1989

It's rare that you come across a view of a cable car or Golden Gate Bridge that you've never seen before. The Chronicle's Jason M. Grow captured this unique photo of the Powell Street cable car turnaround by climbing up into the Flood Building — a structure historic in its own right. (One of the few buildings east of Van Ness that survived the 1906 Earthquake and fire.) This turnaround is just two blocks from the Chronicle building. Aug. 16, 1989.
