Transamerica at Night

Jan. 30, 1974: The Transamerica Pyramid was just two years old when Chronicle photographer Jerry Telfer took this photo from the the roof of some apartments on Vallejo Street. At the time residents were upset about the "Manhattanization" of downtown San Francisco, but at night, this skyline was easy to love. The Pyramid has remained the tallest building in San Francisco for more than 40 years.
